Branding research.



A piece of research for my Jazz-Cakes Branding brief. This is such a nice touch for a logo, looking at highlighting certain aspects of the lettering in the logo and using these shapes to make the design. You can then see the products they have put the logo across onto.


I find it interesting to look at logos for big companies/events - as it shows that everything we are learning is relevant to current design and it is not just a college style of working. I like this logo, and can see it working across many different medias.



I liked that this blog showed the one that made it and the ones that didn't - makes you think i could do that!!

The Heads Of State.




This is cool, I like how relevant it is. This was done by a group of students studying typography and university, and they create this in the ceiling of their studio. I think it has created good photography as well being able to see through the ceiling.

K2 Screens.




Some promotional material designed by K2 screens. I particularly like the bottom one for Knoll. It is a promotional calendar for them, with each day have an illustration of a different piece of furniture.

Studio Weekend.




Branding for a Silent Moving. Again, something very simple, and can see the theme running through out the variety of different contexts. However, there does not seem to be one logo, it is just more a theme. I think it still works here, as everything seems very consistent and it is just for one film showing, it does not necessarily need branding with a logo. Also a silent movie is a dated thing, it seems to make more sense to not have a logo as it comes across as being less commercial this way.



Having said that, looking through the rest of the material It now becomes clear what the logo is.

Artwork Portfolio.




Re-branding Murdock. These designs are simplistic and elegant. Looking at this has given me an idea for my JazzCakes Brief. It would be nice to send them a voucher or free gift as a way of promoting the company, as the brief I have set myself is to make people aware of them. Then this would give me more of a context. So, I need to design an envelope, a business card, a branded letter and leaflet, a voucher or free item. Free T-shirt?

Johnson Banks.





Johnson Banks - branding Blackpool pleasure beach. I picked this out for some research for my Jazz Cakes Brief, it shows how the logo can be added to different formats and that they probably selected this form of logo as they would work in the formats. I like the Hot Ice Poster, the colours seem to compliment the contrast of hot and ice - with the purple and the blue. And the logo seems to sit really easily within the composition.

Anton Studer.


A bit Geeky, but...

This is another students self initiated type project ^^ 'Play With Type.'
On his blog you can see the clear development of the typeface and then moving onto developing it with different media's. Really effective piece of work, and well presented on his blog.





In the middle of creating my booklet now, so just looking around for type inspiration. Trying to look for other designers that have designed typefaces too, and can then look at how they present themselves, but I will put anything that catches my eye here too :)

Marc Alcock.



very nice. Clever concept, has an idea behind it. And because it is a strong idea there is a clear process of presentation seen there, very relevant which makes it that much more successful.
To be honest, I did not realise how much there was out there! Coming across loads of really great presented and considered presentation of type face.
